Coastwest provides opportunities for Western Australians to learn about, conserve and protect our coast. The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage administers the Coastwest program on behalf of the Western Australian Planning Commission.

Coastwest funded projects

  • Coastwest grants 2017/18 funded projects
    The 2017/18 Coastwest grants round was open for applications from 16 January – 21 March 2017. Twenty eight applications were received and 21 projects were approved to share in $388,169 of grants.
  • Coastwest grants 2016/17 funded projects
    The 2016/17 Coastwest grants round was open for applications from 8 March–8 April 2016. Twenty-eight applications were received and 18 projects were approved to share in $338,100 of grants.
  • Coastwest grants 2015/16 funded projects
    The 2015/16 Coastwest grants round was open for applications from 13 April–30 June 2015. Forty-five applications were received and 22 projects were approved to share in $452,444 of grants. 
  • Coastwest grants 2014/15 funded projects
    The 2014/15 Coastwest grants round was open for applications from 15 May–30 June 2014. Forty-six applications were received and 25 projects were approved to share in $507,000 of grants.
  • Coastwest grants 2013/14 funded projects
    The 2013/14 Coastwest grants round was open for applications from 15 April–24 June 2013. Forty-two applications were received and 21 projects were approved to share in $568,555 of grants. 
  • Coastwest grants 2012/13 funded projects
    The 2012/13 Coastwest grants round was open for applications from 30 April–26 July 2012. Fifty-eight applications were received and 30 projects were approved to share in $752,532 of grants.
  • Coastwest grants 2012 funded projects
    The 2012 Coastwest grants round was open for applications from 4 July–29 September 2011. Forty-six applications were received.
  • Coastwest grants 2011 funded projects
    The 2011 Coastwest grant round was open for applications from 1 February–28 March 2011. Fifty-three applications were received.

  • Coastal planning and management manual
    A community guide for protecting and conserving the Western Australian coast. Information focuses on guiding the development and implementation of coastal management projects in response to local pressures. Based on the skills and experience of the coastal community, the manual seeks to promote the exchange of ideas for better outcomes.

    By providing a series of monitoring methods, and a simple and structured way to record information, the Monitoring Manual provides a framework to assist the community to monitor the marine environment.
